Dr. Murdock - Owner/Veterinarian
Waldo here. My mom, Dr. Amy Murdock, is the owner and veterinarian at Lava Rock Veterinary Hospital. She is a hard working vet that loves a challenge as well as "fixing" things surgically and all things related to emergency medicine. She graduated from WSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 and relocated to St George in 2017. She opened Lava Rock in 2022. When she is not working, my mom enjoys cooking and baking, spending time at her sewing machine or out taking me for a walk.
Toast - Office Cat
Hi I'm Toast! Lava Rock Vet adopted me from RSQ Animal Team! They knew that older cats are usually overlooked and wanted to give me a forever home. Now I spend my days harassing the staff to give me attention, lounging in the sun, being dressed up, and being endless entertainment for the staff. You might see me lurking around in the treatment area if you look closely.
Johanna - Office Manager & Veterinary Technician
Hi! I’m Maisey!
My mom Johanna has been working in Vet Med for 6 years! (That’s longer than I’ve been alive!) She loves working with all animals and learning new skills and info every day!
Ashley - Office Manager & Certified Veterinary Technician
My name is Aurora or RoRo. My mom has always wanted to work with animals and loves being a Veterinary Technician. She loves learning new things and emergency medicine. While she loves meeting all the dogs and cats at work she especially loves boxers like me.
Amber - Reception
My name is Antonio. My mom Amber, rescued me a few years back because she is an animal lover! She has worked with animals since high school and she strongly believes in the ethical treatment of animals. She believes each animal deserves to be treated with respect and kindness. She has worked In California at animal clinics, humane society and emergency care. After moving to Utah in 2007, she continued in animal care. You can usually find her with her husband and four kids doing outdoor activities. Her family is everything to her. She is honored to be part of the team here at Lava Rock, and looks forward to giving excellent treatment to your loved ones.
Brenda - Receptionist
My name is Lenny and Brenda is a rockstar receptionist. Her favorite parts of the job are her coworkers and meeting the pets that come in. She enjoys crafting, Harley rides with her husband and anything outdoors.
Stephanie - Certified Veterinary Technician
Hi, my name is Remus. Stephanie is my Mom. She became a licensed Veterinary Technician back in Colorado then moved here to Utah. She is excited to take care of pets here in St. George and with 30 years of experience I think she will do a great job. She takes care of me and my furry siblings as well as the two-legged family members we share our home with. We enjoy our crazy, somewhat chaotic, busy life here in Southern Utah.
Jeri - Certified Veterinary Technician
My name is Jasmine or Jazzy for short. My mom is Jeri. She has worked in vet med for 10 years and she loves it! Sometimes I miss her so much I eat things I shouldn't so I get to go to work with her. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. I'm the oldest of all my siblings; 2 humans, my dog brother, my snake brother, and 3 cats.
Tracy - Veterinary Technician
Hi, my name is Comet, Tracy is my mom. She has worked in the veterinary field for the past 16 years. She is a busy mom of 3 boys. When she has some free time she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.
Morgan - Veterinary Technician
I'm Capella and my mom is Morgan. She has worked really hard to train me because I'm deaf. She has a huge passion for animals and for veterinary medicine. My mom has been working in the field since 2018.  She always is looking to learn and grow to better serve her patients.
Jacob - Veterinary Assistant
Hi my name is Cinderella. I'm so happy to be watching over my owner Jacob as he found his passion in biology. He got his bachelors in Biology in 2020 and has been working as a vet assistant for over a year now. I'm so proud of him.
